Frank Howelll (1937-1997) was born and raised in Iowa and in the 1960s moved to Colorado, where he left school teaching and took up painting and printmaking full time. He later moved to Taos, then Santa Fe, where he opened the Frank Howell gallery. He is best known for his paintings and lithographs of Native American and Southwestern themes.
